Get ISO certification for your processes: Chief Secretary to JKMSCL

JAMMU, 31 DECEMBER (KNB): Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, today urged Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) officials to have all of their processes for obtaining medications, equipment, and other supplies accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

 

He delivered these statements while chairing the Corporation's 9th Finance Committee Meeting. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Planning, the Secretary of Health, the MD of JKMSCL, and other relevant personnel. Dr. Mehta encouraged the officials of the Corporation to obtain ISO certification to ensure the superiority of all their ways of purchasing crucial pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

 

He instructed them to guarantee that all materials delivered to hospitals are of the highest quality and class. The Chief Secretary further advised them to compare their procurement prices with those of other states/UTs in order to have a clear understanding of the situation.

 

He also instructed them to compare their pricing to those at Janashudi outlets in order to promote efficiency in the Corporation.

 

Dr. Mehta asked the Corporation to have the medical requisitions examined by a team of specialists so that the hospitals could obtain the quality drugs they needed. He instructed them to ensure that the goods given meet all of the primary needs of hospitals.

 

He also instructed them to observe the GFR and other rules when recruiting contractual personnel, charging administrative fees, and writing off outdated medications. He directed them to finish all accounts up to the current fiscal year as soon as possible. He also advocated for an audit of all accounts and the use of their balances to add value to the government. It was revealed that the Corporation purchased machinery and equipment for Rs290 crores as part of a World Bank-funded initiative.
